John Peebles

John Peebles graduated from the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Forestry in 1977 and became a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) in 1979. John subsequently completed the requirements for full accreditation with the Appraisal Institute of Canada in 1984. His experience includes property development, leasing, and valuation in the public and private sectors for a variety of property types. More recently, John has provided expertise for BC Assessment in development of uniform valuation practices and in-depth valuation research. His areas of property practice includes rural and forest land, hotels and motels, retail-office, industrial, special purpose, multi-family, rights-of-way and marine properties. Matters of special interest include specialized property research in support of First Nations land negotiations, commercial rent analysis, location decisions, highest and best use analysis, and feasibility studies. 

John has published papers on a number of topics including the valuation of green buildings and waterfront property, and the principles of highest and best use. Recent presentations include:

  • The Valuation of Lodging Properties (2006 B.C. Hospitality Conference)
  • Office Valuation Issues in Assessment (2006 National Conference of the Appraisal Institute of Canada).
